Allocation Plan Part 3: Understanding the Data Source and Parameters
Allocation Logic and Warehouse Data
It's important to know how Madden makes its recommendations. The Allocation recommendations are based on the Warehouse Settings.
These crucial settings are managed outside of the Allocation Plan module. To check or update these settings, you need to go into the Settings > Warehouses section.
Warehouse Allocation Parameters
Here, you can manage each warehouse's allocation settings based on three critical parameters:
Lead Time: The number of days required to transfer stock from a central warehouse or supplier to this specific warehouse.
Frequency: The number of days that passes between allocations.
Target Coverage: The number of days we try to cover with each allocation.
Increasing any of these numbers will increase the allocation suggestion—and vice versa.
The allocation algorithms recalculate daily, so you will see the effect of your changes on the next day's allocation recommendation. Use a sound mind when setting these, and don't be afraid to experiment and tweak until you've dialed it in.
Understanding this link ensures you know where to go to manage the parameters that drive all of your allocation suggestions.
